Live Catalpa Worms

The Catalpa Worm is in rare supply these days. People call The Bait Barn on a daily basis looking for Live Catalpa worms. These are the facts, during the last few years the catalpa worm has been reduced in population due to mosquito control measures, pesticides and hurricane Katrina who blew ours off the trees when she hit Louisiana and has yet to recover. The pesticides used to control mosquito's kills the catalpa worms when they are on the trees and when they are in the larvae state under the trees. This is not the only problem we have encountered, when crop runoff from farmland flows near the trees the population is also reduced. Another fact is the over harvesting of the worms, people have been striping trees clean and selling them to local bait shops. So if your looking for Live Catalpa worms this year...... Good Luck!
